One of the intellectual fathers of the “Uhlenhaut Coupe” and the 300 SLR Roadster racing versions (W 196 S) was the head of the testing and racing department, Rudolf Uhlenhaut. The Uhlenhaut Coupé named after him (there are only 2 versions worldwide) also differs from the “normal” 300 SL (W 198) in its even more dynamic body shape.
